Chikage has known Tachibana since childhood because his mother worked as a live-in housekeeper at the Tachibana residence. Clumsy and somewhat slow to understand things, he can be quite a burden. At the request of Tachibana's concerned parents, Chikage arrives at the bakery "Antique" to look after Tachibana. Due to his poor eyesight and nervous disposition, he is always seen wearing sunglasses. When his glasses are removed, his handsome appearance captivates Ono, but despite nearly succumbing to Ono's notorious "demonic charm," Chikage manages to fend off Ono's advances and maintain a strictly platonic relationship.
In episode 8, it is revealed that Chikage has had past relationships and even fathered a child named Deko with Sakurako, a well-known author.
