charon
Charon is a minor character in Historiē. He was introduced as Eumenes' slave in Chapter 6: The Library Room (2), accompanying him to the school.
When Eumenes met Charon again in Chapter 85, Charon was known as Melanthios, a trusted friend to Phocion. During his time as a free man, he married a former slave. He still referred to Eumenes as "young master," feeling it was more natural to address him this way.
Just as they parted once more, Charon revealed the main reason why he considers himself to have a child despite not having any biologically. He has one who is freed from the chains of slavery just like him. No matter what actions he takes, such as attacking Athens, he views Eumenes as his only son.
