Son of Sweyn Forkbeard, the King of Denmark. He seems effeminate and frail, often hiding behind his retainer Ragnar, yet stands up to Thorfinn's taunts. His weak demeanor and strong Christian beliefs invite ridicule from the Viking crew.
Canute harbored resentment towards his father upon learning that he had been marked for death by him. Recognizing Canute's potential, Askeladd assassinated Forkbeard, making Canute the King of Denmark. Canute then began working towards creating a paradise on Earth, evolving into a formidable, ruthless leader and an exceptional general.
