The Yin military strategist, Bunchuu, has safeguarded the Yin for centuries due to a vow he made to his comrade Shushi, a vivacious young woman he once trained alongside. For 300 years, Bunchuu served as the Yin's strategist and protector, overseeing the reign of 30 emperors. Among the mightiest on Kingou Island, his formidable strength is enhanced by his spirit beast Kokukirin and his super paopei Kinkuben, making him a fearsome adversary. However, he refrains from employing his sennin abilities in human disputes.
In the manga and the 2018 anime adaptation, the demise of his dear friend Kou Hiko and his defeat at the hands of Taikoubou rendered his dedication to protecting the Yin futile, leading him to take his own life. Later, Bunchuu's spirit appears in the Houshindai, where he instructs his follower Chou Kei to forge his own path.
In contrast, the 1999 anime portrays a different fate for Bunchuu. After Dakki's downfall, he departs aboard his spiritual beast when questioned about their destination, he cryptically replies, "Who knows?"
