Boris Ivanov is a member of Yomi, specializing in Command Sambo and is the top disciple of Alexander Gaider. He was the second Yomi fighter to challenge Kenichi in combat and among the initial four Yomi members transferred to Kenichi's school.
Boris is often seen in military attire, reflecting his devotion to his homeland. He possesses a muscular physique, silver spiked hair at the back, and typically wears a small headband around his forehead. For blending into Kenichi's school, he has also been spotted in a school uniform.
As a Russian soldier and the right-hand man to a colonel, Boris frequently exhibits militaristic behavior. He rigorously adheres to orders, viewing them as absolute, following any directive from his master or teacher without hesitation or question. Disobedience infuriates him, and he feels envious when someone displays greater loyalty than he does. However, he shows slight respect for those who openly confront him.
Despite being Kenichi's adversary, Boris collaborates with him against mutual enemies, taking Kenichi's words as advice rather than commands. He finds ways to bend orders to his benefit without violating them.
Like Ethan, Boris left a positive impression on many students at Kenichi's school and held great respect for his teacher, Ono Kyouko, complying with her requests without question and performing good deeds. The teacher considered Boris kind-hearted, which may not be far-fetched since he allied with Kenichi to protect her using loopholes in his orders, suggesting he might not be as ruthless as perceived and could be more sympathetic towards Katsujin Ken.
He shares a good rapport with his militia men, leading them as their commander, but doesn't heed Kanou Shou until receiving his master's directives.
Boris is also the first opponent to recognize Kenichi's strength, even conceding that Kenichi is stronger.
