Munsu's reluctant yet well-meaning servant, Bang Ja was originally the apprentice and servant of a first mahai onshi. His former master released him from service following Jushin's downfall. Tragedy struck again when his master and sando were killed during a rebel uprising against a corrupt lord, leading Bang Ja to wander the country as a thief. He holds the belief that angyo onshi should embody virtue and heroism, a stance frequently challenged by Munsu's actions.
A third-rate magician capable of summoning animals to do his bidding, Bang Ja takes his role very seriously. This earnestness often makes him an easy target for manipulation and bullying by Munsu, who doesn't hesitate to beat him or send him on absurd or impossible tasks. Despite these hardships, Bang Ja remains steadfast in his duties, striving to uphold his ideals even in the face of adversity.
