Aya Mikage is a high school student and the protagonist at the start of the story. She discovers she is a descendant of a celestial maiden named "Ceres" and becomes Ceres' latest vessel for existence. The Mikage family views this as a threat and repeatedly attempts to end Aya's life. Her father dies protecting her, while her mother remains in a coma for most of the series. Initially overwhelmed by the upheaval in her life, Aya resolves to correct her family's past mistakes and recover Ceres' celestial robe so that her family can live without fear. As the story unfolds, she falls in love with Tooya, and they have a child together.
