Asclepius was once among Athena's Saints in the distant past, during the Age of Myth. He was renowned as the Ophiuchus Gold Saint. Due to his immense power and healing abilities, he eventually came to be revered as a god within Sanctuary. This high and honorable status fueled his ambition to become a true god, not merely worshipped as one. His arrogance, desiring divinity as a mortal, angered the gods. As punishment, Asclepius's body was destroyed, and his soul was sealed by Athena in a well leading to the depths of Tartarus. All traces of his existence were erased, turning the story of "the Thirteenth Gold Saint" into a legend known only to a few.
In the 18th century, anomalies caused by time travelers from the 20th century weakened his sealed prison, allowing him some external influence. He chose to possess Odysseus, an honorable and respected Saint, and, with his legendary Gold Cloth returned, attempted to achieve what he couldn't in the Age of Myth and seek revenge on Athena.
