Alexander Anderson is a Vatican priest working as a vampire hunter for the Iscariot branch of the Vatican. He is also Alucard's arch-rival. In the English dub of the anime and OVA, he is portrayed as Scottish, although his nationality is canonically "unknown." He resides in Italy, running an orphanage outside Vatican City. Anderson serves as a foil to Alucard, acting both as an antagonist and a type of anti-villain in the series.
