Sendou stands out among Slam Dunk characters as a very nice and warm person. He always smiles, is friendly, and remains modest despite knowing he is an exceptional player. He never loses his temper and shows respect to strong opponents but will not give up any game. He is a fierce competitor who fights for victory no matter what.
His main issue might be a lack of focus when facing weaker opponents. However, his concentration peaks when playing against rivals like Rukawa and Maki, who bring out the best in him.
Sendou excels as a shooter, a good rebounder, and a strategist. He can play fancy offense and great defense, especially against formidable forwards like Rukawa. Despite his height, he is incredibly fast and flexible. He is known as the true Genius, unlike Sakuragi who self-proclaims himself as such.
In his first year of high school, Sendou played as a small forward and was a scoring machine, similar to Rukawa. In his second year, he discovered the joy of passing, which significantly improved the team's performance. His game vision and senses are outstanding, making him an excellent point guard, which is rare for someone his height. He performs his role exceptionally well and is undoubtedly the ace player of Ryonan. Alongside Fukuda and Uozumi, they form the strongest offense in Kanagawa.
Sendou is not only the ace player but also the mental backbone of the team. When things go wrong, his teammates still have faith in their star player. He brings out the best qualities in others and is reliable. When the team is behind, he showcases his scoring ability without losing focus on the game. He knows what is best for his team. Many consider Sendou the true captain of Ryonan instead of Uozumi because he can calm the team down and motivate them. When Uozumi retires, Sendou becomes the new captain.
