I like Makie so much, it's such a pity that she had to die in this underhand way. If it was down to swordfight, surely no one would beat her.

                        Surely this chapter was intended to be quite dramatic, esp near the end with the flashback of their first ever encounter, but tbh I didn't feel that bad for any of them. I see it more in a methodological sense in that 2 characters have simply outlived their purposes story-wise-- with Ryo protecting/shielding his father and with Makie bringing one couple closer together, as well as finally admitting her true feelings for Kagehisa.



Well, it sure is a shame for Makie to go this way but she was bound to go sooner or later, anyway. As for Ryo, perhaps she could still make it, but it would most certainly be interesting to see how Habaki would react to the possibility of losing his sole remaining blood. Such as if there's still a chance to save her life, I wonder if he'd actually let go of his obsession with Kagehisa to prioritize saving his daughter.
