Akira Chapter 53 Discussion

Episode 53: Pages 67-82 of volume 4 of the Kodansha publication.



So now public executions are a thing. Volume 4 really feels like a combination of Mad Max, Lord of the Flies, and a little bit of Children of the Corn.

I was taken aback by how passive Akira is... Given his power, you'd think he'd become the main threat of the story, but the way he is treated I guess is a reminder of the painful truth... That he is just a kid. Hope you keep enjoying this great ride of a story !

[I am reading the DarkHorse issue of Akira. Here 120 chapters are converted into 38 parts. And the sequence of event is mixed up to match the new format. So, I know how many chapters I have read but do not know what part belong to which chapter.]



I am impressed how Otomo draw the entire devastation of the Neo-Tokyo in the last few chapter. It really give a Fist of the North Star feeling. And its interesting how Tetsuo is using Akira to start his own cult or faction even. It was quite unexpected.
