[I am reading the DarkHorse issue of Akira. Here 120 chapters are converted into 38 parts. And the sequence of event is mixed up to match the new format. So, I know how many chapters I have read but do not know what part belong to which chapter.]

So, far I saw Chiyoko trash the military, Nezu's men and a sphere. She is clearly a experience militia. As for Kaneda; he really is something. He eat poison and puked it out without any problem. I don't understand why Nezu want to keep Akira for himself. I think it is pretty clear that he can not make use of him unlike the military or the Miyako's cult. But what's even absurd is how Neo-Tokyo leaders think they can forget about Akira to clear their name.

This will spiral out of control real quick.

Good for you but really manga was meh by the end Akira as an art style of the 80’s it’s definitely a representation of the era but story wise it’s not really all that mind blowing. There is a lot going on but the story seem to lack characters which have any depth. They are either corrupt politician or a cultist. And all of the mystery is only around Akira everything else doesn't seem to have any value of their own.

Yes characters that had abilities seem to overlap on each other with nothing that makes them special. and the writer could have created a better story if he focused on the Big bang aspect of Akira that he could create or vanish worlds and how Tetsuo was the literal opposite to that of Akira he eluded to that but that never came onto anything by the end, except that we all are there in death and exist even if we die.
