Yukiji has the best, most moving backstory of all HnG characters and yet she's usually brushed off as a comic relief. Obviously she's great at it too, I laugh every time she appears, but I so wish she was given more focus.





ATTENTION!

This is the woman who sacrificed her life's dream, her adolescence, possibly her love and didn't even get a chance to grief over her dead parents because she had to work incredibly hard to pay off huge debts and raise her younger sister. Now her sister is able and independent, so Yukiji's goal has been achieved - however she can't go back to what she wanted to do before all those hardships, and so her life quite literally lost all meaning. The fact that her heartless younger sister doesn't care for her at all certainly doesn't help.



Now blame her for being messy and getting drunk.



I blame her for being messy and getting drunk. Yukiji has been through a lot, clearly. I'm not belittling that. Hinagiku cares greatly for her sister, but doesn't help her when she spends her entire salary on alcohol. You can't just keep helping her because then she'll make a habit of it, which she has already done. While her past was pretty awful, her condition right now is relatively nice. She has a job, they have foster parents who are wonderful to them, and I'm not saying that just because her current situation is decent she should be perfectly fine, but there's a limit. Still, all this messiness and drinking is part of who she is, so it's not really that bad. When it comes down to it, she's a good sister and a good person, so long as it doesn't involve money :P. Probably a bad instinctive habit from all that shady stuff she did for money to pay off the debt.

I hope that last page is signaling the start of a new arc for Yukiji.

i was laughing at how hayate was thinking of the harsh reality that not all cute girls will remain cute, and hinagiku might turn out the same



then hinagiku telling him that yukiji was a bad example and told him to keep believing (in her)



i was surprised at how good yukiji looks when she was younger, its a wonder what happened and we finally get a little more insight about her



i just hope hinagiku doesn't turn out like yukiji and grows up beautiful and intelligent...well shes already beautiful and intelligent but i mean more beautiful and intelligent
