That monologue at the end was the perfect setup for what's to come. Shit's about to go down the remaining 23 chapters

And with this chapter, the manga has now fully covered the original series. The events seems like they were a little more of a mess compared to the anime. No characters motivations were 100% clear here. Shinji did what he did because he thinks he's supposed to and what others wanted him to do. He's turned completely submissive now.

I don't like how little convincing it took to make Shinji kill Kaworu, but I really enjoyed this chapter. The fundamental problem isn't that Shinji is dirtying his hands, but what he is willing to fight for does not appear to be what he is really fighting for.

A powerful, powerful chapter. I mean, goddamn. I think that, more than anything, Kaworu's words about Shinji remembering killing him betrayed that he just wanted to be remembered. A very human feeling, I must say, though selfish because, as he said, Shinji must live with it. But, more than anything, I feel as though the two of them reached an understanding there that was beyond words. Also, the transition from Unit 01 crushing him, to Shinji himself strangling Kaworu was powerful, one of those moments that I just can't sum up into words.

Now, Shinji has effectively lost everyone. Kaji, Toji, and Kaworu are dead. Kensuke moved. Asuka is basically a doll, Rei is a different person. And he asks himself if the 3rd impact would really be such a bad thing. Would it?

I enjoyed the series being covered by the manga more than the Anime. Now, time for EoE to occur.

Ehh I think the manga is more coherent than the anime. The characters get more focus, back story which made their actions and motives that much more logical and powerful. To each his own I guess.

Really powerful scene towards the end. The transition from Shinji strangling Kaoru from inside the Eva to him Shinji strangling Kaworu on the open fields as if recalling the kitten scene was very nicely done. The one thing I've consistently liked about the manga was the way it portrays Shinji's thoughts. Truly, is this crazy world really worth the effort to be saved?
