Because it's also an Angel or rather created from them.



So, the rather "infamous" scene of Unit 0-1 eating the Angel was adapted here. As violent and graphic as ever.

Grotesque is the one word that truly fits in this case.

Kinda ironic that Ritsuko bemoans that Unit 01 is out of their control from now on, given the fact there were countless number of times in which they had no effing idea about what was going on with the Evas.

Gendo' smug smile irritates me to no end.

Unit 01's eyes upon awakening look scary and badass



Also, why is everyone standing outside? If the Eva is out of control and awake in it's true form, they could be killed.

I remember from the anime when Unit-01 started eating the angel....that's really gross, but awesome. The S2 "engine" is what gives the Angels their unlimited power. (the eva wiki is the most helpful site ever for understanding this series)
