I knew it! Toji felt guilty after he was saved by the kid he beat up

This scene just felt a little off for me.  I’m not like Misato in the manga, and what she said to Shinji isn’t what I felt should have been said.  I’m curious to see how opinion of Misato will change when more characters are introduced.

Those two kids are making me laugh with their attitudes

Seriously? I thought that scene was pretty great and that that was exactly the right thing to say to him. She figured it out: Shinji wants a home, a parental figure and maybe she can give him that. This is exactly what she was referring to regarding the Pen Pen story.

Ngl I shed a small tear towards the end. I like how Misato is given depth earlier in the story vs the anime

Both Shinji and Misato getting character development, which is nice to see

Shinji's first official time quitting NERV. But, of course, he doesn't. We got more Pen-Pen backstory this chapter, but I didn't think it was enough to make Shinji come back. Odd choice, but oh well. Kensuke and Toji's face was epic when they saw Shinji and Misato hugging.

Thus concludes Volume 2. A condensed version of episodes 2ish-4ish. Can't wait to see how the manga handles the next upcoming angel fight.

Yeah this was a pretty well done seen in my eyes. The beauty of it is that this time it was not only Shinji who tried to be true to his feelings, but Misato as well (*). She finally figured out that she is in need of a family as much as Shinji is.

(*) Just like you need an AT-field to neutralize another AT-field as well heh..

Good ending I guess, Misato and Shinji got into terms with their homely platonic relationship, something pretty subtle in the anime; but I do certainly welcome the direct nature of this scene in the manga
