This is what I mean by the manga starting to surpass the anime. It seems that by drinking two of those vials Wolfwood got the strength to keep fighting awhile longer. But in exchange he will die once they run out. Unlike in the anime where once he stopped killing he died in a sad twist of fate, here Wolfwood MADE THE CHOICE that he knew would kill him, in exchange for the ability to protect the things he cared about. The fact that in the manga Wolfwood knows he will die by making said choice and still makes it, males the decision much more meaningful to me.
