About the gamma radiation and such, I'm not sure what Maya and the Colloid has anything to do with it. If the Earth will not die from the radiation, what is the point of the Colloid?

No I think that while the colloid was to avoid these calamity's I do not believe that was the original intent completely. It isn't trying to preserve the current "humanity" but I believe trying to create a world void of inequality. I am not so certain though what is going to happen now that it seems to be creating a new universe and "reincarnating" people ... I thought it would achieve this equality by just melding all of humanity in to one being but I Guess that wasn't it ... I dunno too much stuff has happened here at the end, feel like the original story got a little muddled.

Eh, the story suddenly isnt so interesting anymore.  In the context of sci-fi, it's very predictable and generic, almost.  Of course you'd have to be an avid sci-fi reader to hold this opinion.  Or maybe it's just me.  Though I did read Greg Egan's Diaspora recently, which also involves the threat of instinction by gamma rays and digitised humans, so everything after that is gonna appear mediocre.

I dont understand why the threat of gamma rays in this manga is so convoluted with the weird gravity bubble object.  Hopefully this is all a red herring or something.

I agree. I think the Mangaka tried to weave too many story lines and ended up with some contradictions.

The gamma rays will make earth unhabitable for humans, basically killing humanity off.  The colloid is to digitise humans so that the race can continue to exist, albeit not in traditional physical form anymore.

That's what I'm getting from the story anyway, it's almost identical to Greg Egan's Disapora which I mentioned above.  But in that novel the threat is from an exploding binary star, and in this manga it's some weird object that just appeared in the solar system which needs explaining.
