1) What this story is about? The main story loop is the MC playing the "speaker of the dead" and then trying to fix solutions to the doomed RPG/VN he is stuck into. This mean that he will stumble upon a supernatural (often undead in nature) and using his shaman-like connection he will find the rules of the creature and sooth their pain/anger until he can help them calm or move on.On other hand by doing so he often help solve the Game-like events and gain some magical power boost, specially considering he doesn't have a walkthrough of the game and there are elements that are different than the game that he remmeber.2) Why 4 stars?First is difficult to put stars, compared to professional authors, it is 3, compared to others in the genre is a 4.In general terms, while interesting and rather original, having some interesting plots points for both areas, the author do well but not enough to make justice to the concept he dealing with and more than once I feel that if he had focused in one or the other it could have made a more solid work than try to mix both. Perhaps the worst offender is that everything seen to be rushed, the plot, the character interaction, the dialogue, that specially when dealing with game character give a very "mechanical" feeling. For example, there is certain important events that happened in the background and only know the result of them or what should have been a great arc in the game term is almost skipped to just a final battle where all preparation happened off screen.Another problem is the characters and their interaction, while they don't fall into the most boring cardboard cutout of orbiting girls around dense MC, is not that far off specially because are also seen to be in rush to give the next exposition and move where the MC need them to be rather really sell their relationship.Worse the MC personality really is rather boring and "soulless", while might have in lore reason, it doesn't excuse the fact he is more a way to deliver us to the next plotline than character himself. However, when we do follow theses small plotlines is interesting, when character talk about elephant in the room of "I took over the body of someone you know" and have emotional interaction, when they they show with surprising seriousness tone when dealing with some terrible death, when using game mechanics to outsmart the events of the game, theses points are really interesting and worth the read, specially if you are tired of other works of the genre.I did wish that the author would focus more on characters and better pace his plots so they don't feel rushed, but that might mean that each arc would be 2 to 3x longer.
