Edit Again: As you can see there is a new translator, I had previously rated it fairly highly as it was a nice concept that appealed to me personally. As it stands now though I can't in good faith say to start reading and get invested in it for two primary reasons.

1. Ads on a site are fine, in fact I often disable my adblock if I know the site isn't gonna have the worst ads known to man kind or malvertising, Kari's site however commits the worst crime to all people who enjoy reading: ads in the MIDDLE OF THE DIALOGUE page while also having banner ads. Those video ads that pop up occasionally in the corner of your screen AND whatever the ones that sit on the bottom of your screen are. I get it, you need profit for your work, but chill with the ads please.

2. Declining quality in translation. Unfortunately, as is common with novels that get picked up by a secondary author, the translation gets worse as time goes on. You can look past it if you're bored enough, but it gets pretty intolerable if you're a regular reader. For example referring to Japan as "Japan Empire" instead of "Japanese Empire" or just Japan, another example is the constant swapping between the use of Tsar and Tsarina (then having a title using "Charina"). This makes me think the translation is fully done by machine with very little editing or quality control, I refuse to believe someone could swap such a simple title back and forth repeatedly (sometimes in the same paragraph or sentence!).

I read it the day I saw chapter 1 drop on Novelplex, and unfortunately it seems that unless these problems are PARTIALLY solved, I will be dropping it soon.

Original review:

Early to tell how good this one is, I like it conceptually, hence the high review. It's fairly simplistic, and there are a few historical errors in the actual plot itself, unsure if it is due to writing or the choice of localization terms, and so I wont say much about any specific. Just know they're not egregious enough to warrant me dropping it out of my list. Translation by oordinary on Novelplex is serviceable and you can tell there is some effort in it, which is nice.

For what it is, and for what most people look for when they see stuff like this, it's perfectly acceptable. If the setting of the Russian Civil war interests you, or you're one of those people a little too into Paradox games (to sell it to these guys, Ungern-Sternberg is in it), give it a read.
