This novel made me give up on japanese web novels entirely, at least for random novels that I don't know anything about. Too many times has a japanese WN shown that they will never let go of their nonsensical ideology that every MC needs to be so pathetic that even the most boring, worthless reader can feel superior to him. Either that or the author is rebelling against this ideology and has their MC over the top in the other direction which isn't much better. Please, write the MC just like another character in the story, it's not complicated.Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with him being powerless in this story, that's always irrelevent. It's the denseness (required trait to build an easy shitty harem), the shallow and thoughtless niceness and selflessness (for pathetic loners to go "yeah that's how women are supposed to react" even though in reality the natural response to how these MCs act is obviously disgust and annoyance) and the guy in his 30s acting like a 12 year old (?) when anything remotely s*xual shows up. (I can't even say this is to make him relatable to the target audience, surely that can't be right, in fact no 12 year old even acts like this, what the hell is this even? It's everywhere in japanese media, everyone has a laugh about it, but what and why is it? Like, imagine you were back in school and some guy acted like a japanese MC over an indirect kiss from being passed a drink or something. You wouldn't call him a virg*n or beta, you'd call a psychiatrist.) Also, I wouldn't say the translation is bad, but the translator is going way too fast and there's a ton of typos and errors. Not that the novel deserves any more care.
