The story through Chapter 3 is basically the backstory. Chapter 4 is where he begins his counterattack and begins steadily gaining strength. The MC is intelligent and cunning. You can tell he has a good heart (Hero Material), but after being betrayed and/or abandoned by literally EVERYONE he becomes cynical and more decerning of his companions (Anti-Hero Material). The revenge is tailored to the person, ranging from hard-core capture and confinement to whimsical tricks to mess with the targets' hearts. The revenge is satisfying but too reasonable for my taste. I'd like him to go a step further, but I guess he's just a nicer guy than I am...For instance, there's a part where he reunites with a woman who was like a big sister to him. She said some terrible things when they parted, without even realizing how cruel she was being.Spoiler
His father is the one who decided to banish him. This "big sis" tells Sora that she's going to become his father's mistress. She thinks this is happy news, she wants to share her joy. What Sora hears is, "I'm going to go **** the man that betrayed and abandoned you".
[collapse]When they reunite he ONLY ignores her like she's a stranger, and later even ends up saving her life. It's frustrating to me, but I can't say it's unrealistic. If the LN follows the same path as the WN the story will continue into a much larger world after the revenge-focused part.
