I meant to rate this 5 stars not 4. It’s a really lighthearted novel, romance is minimal and towards the end but sweet. Even though the original novel was an abusive romance story, this story was basically about a mom and daughter con. The one thing I really liked about the novel and that sets it apart from other c-novels is how satisfyingly all the women were portrayed. Almost every minor female character had their own backstories, their own goals and ambitions that weren’t centered around the men in their life. Even if their only goal is revenge or the pursuit of a perfect face or power and wealth it was still nice to see that they didn’t all automatically hate the female lead just because of a man. Of course there are standard brain dead supporting cast but they were minimal. A lot of the antagonizing female characters felt gray instead of just black to me, and you could really see how their past shaped them into who they were at the end of the novel, and it’s good characterization.
