Inexplicable Body Horror
For some reason, Chapter 3 of Volume begins with some nightmare inducing body horror. Like, it's definitely appropriate for the creature doing the unspeakable things, but I (and the characters observing the aftermath themselves) thought it didn't need quite so much... detail. Luckily (or unluckily, as the human imagination is a terrible thing), there is no illustrations of the nightmare creatures the demon-thing created. Really, I get that it's a novel, and that means that you usually need to be able to make people imagine what everything looks like, but as they say, the devil is in the details, and I don't want nightmares from looking at him and his wacky eldritch pals.
[collapse]If you don't want spoilers on v4c3, but do want the disclaimer that comes with it, I'll tell you here:SpoilerModerate Body Horror is present in the beginning of the chapter, for about 5-6 pages, so if that's too much for you, then I feel it's perfectly fine to skip those pages. I believe it also might be at the very end of Chapter 2, but not nearly as detailed or drawn out.
Also, a not-so-fun fact: The artist considered including an illustration of the aptly titled "Amazing Human Zoo" as a bonus, but, as stated in the afterword, "I considered drawing a scene of the Amazing Human Zoo for this afterword's illustration. Logic won out at the last minute, and I gave up on the idea. I'm kind of glad I did. But I still want to draw it if I get the chance!" So, uhh... we're not out of the woods yet, I suppose.
[collapse]Edit: I just finished reading volume 8 yesterday, and I can safely say that there is nothing besides the aforementioned event that caused me any discomfort throughout the series that has been translated thus far. I will say, however, that volume 8 ends on a cliffhanger, for some godforsaken reason.
