Hello! TLer here! This is actually my first review (ever), so bear with me.This novel is taking Novelpia by storm, crushing every record in its path. And rightfully so! The writing in Korean is absolutely impeccable, an exquisite balance between eloquence, complexity, simplicity, and slang. Korean culture is imbued in every chapter, bringing every facet of the main character to life. He truly is one of us (except a bit sociopathic and degenerate) and it is so, so fun to read what shenanigans he is up to next. It is a tall task for me to faithfully incorporate every reference, slang, and humor that the author writes. Yet, I hope I have done his writing justice! Now, to the summary:We follow our MC reincarnated into an "Otherworld" where magic, knights, and dragons exist. The very definition of a cliche isekai. However, unable to forget the modern era, the MC, with his great talent in magic, decides his love for Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TRPG) is far too strong to give up. As such, he invests all his talents into "Illusion Magic" in an effort to create a Virtual Reality. Our MC continues his journey to bring his eternal muse (TRPG) to life, but far too many people mistaken his Virtual Reality as "Dimensional Magic" instead of the illusion that it is. As a result, he ends up as a Professor at the academy where (thankfully) test subje- I mean, players for his TRPG are in abundance. The students! It's right on time as well, since as a Game Master (GM), he needed players to carry out his intricate fantasies of Martial Arts and chunni-like concepts. Now, onto my personal thoughts:This novel is a 10/10 for me (obviously). The humor is so well done and the references are all so modern that us novel enjoyers are able to easily follow along for every step of the journey. The characters are fantastic and all too life-like. Each "thought" and "story" in the "sessions" enlighten their depths and make us realize that maybe, there is more to the story than just Ooo Ooo Ah Ah funny lol. There is a certain philosophy between the lines that makes the characters (and us) question who exactly we are and what our identity is. As such, the novel is incredibly deep, but packaged in such a light-hearted way, making it enjoyable to read.Let's talk about our MC. He is a broken man, longing for home, and seemingly so insane and sociopathic that he should belong in a nut factory. But at the same time, he is incredibly relatable. Who hasn't been homesick? Who hasn't had fantasies and who hasn't done one or two (or 1340913) s*upid things before? I think that's his charm. You won't see some serious side of him (yet) where he blasts away Young Masters and the like. He is strictly looking after himself and his gains. Some may call that self-centered. I call that based :)) Romance is not blatant yet, but there are subtle hints. Let me present our main waifu, best waifu, cutest waifu: the Purple Magic Tower Master. She is not without her flaws, but the way her character was written is flawless. A perfect balance of serious and funny with a mysterious backstory to her. There is not much known about her yet, but she steals the spotlight whenever she appears. I'm sure you'll love her as much as I do!What I love about this novel is that it is something fresh and new in the Korean webnovel scene. Nothing like it exists even though it's supposed to be a cliche isekai. There are no systems, no grand power system, no special powers, no abstract murim terms. Even the spell names are almost joke-like by perfectly describing what the spell does. Although there isn't some grand overarching goal like saving the world, I somehow get hooked on every chapter, not because of cliffhangers, but because of how fun the story itself is. It truly is the definition of "living in the moment" instead of striving towards some far away goal that will be achieved in 500 chapters. You'll love the story for the characters and content itself. Not because of some overarching theme. All I can say is to try it out! You won't regret it (but you may be left wanting for more). I truly hope I have done the writing justice and translated it well enough for you to enjoy! Thanks for reading! Now, onto my last "ratings":Plot: 4 StarsCharacters: 5 (Does a a 6 exist on NU? If not, it should just for this novel) StarsWorld Building/Setting: 5 StarsWriting/Storytelling: 5 StarsEntertainment Value: 5 Stars (Once again, where is the 6?) Overall: Dude. Just try it.
