The novel has an interesting setting that I like minus the harem tag. The romance so far has been likable. The girls itself are flushed out and I really liked Luna’s arc and dynamic with the MC.Spoiler
What I do find weird is how it was stated they were friends but then suddenly their relationship changed to and dog and owner after MC’s alter ego Omega saved Luna from her depression but I guess it’s whatever.
[collapse]So far in the novel the only girl in the MC’s harem to be almost complete right now as of chapter 49 is Luna, and currently from the machine translation we’re also starting to see Christina’s and Noah’s arcs coming up which I am guessing from how they interact with Souta. The MC is more mature about the situations he is given and the conversations he has, he isn’t some beta or complete a**hole, he’s actually level headed and more calm with the advice he gives to Luna and the other girls. I do think that his actions contradict his mentality of “wanting to see the gloom in the magical girls” which is also a little sadistic and the trope of being a mob character and asking why he is having “rom-com” moments can be annoying. Although some parts are cringey it’s to note the rom com parts are short but sweet. Besides that I think the MC is great for the story as his actions greatly affect the magical girls way of thinking and how the story progresses. He is a little too overpowered for the novel and his powers are almost mostly unexplained. Though the combat portion of the story is thrilling enough to read and it is decent. Now the setting is what caught me with this story. I do like cliches such as being reincarnated as a mob character and secretly saving everyone, I do find that cool, but instead of focusing heavily on one portion, either the secret identity or the mob identity, this story balances it out while having a lot of interactions. This story does do a good job of not telling but showing with the dialogue although I think that the side cast apart from Souta and the magical girls is just Seita, whose just a playboy and is scared of Noah I think. He has yet to get any development and neither has any characters outside the main cast. If you’re willing to give this a read without minding the cliches and tropes its a great read from the prologue to chapter 49.
