A masterpiece thats slightly marred by rushing things. I dont give this masterpiece praise to any webnovels, but this isnt just any webnonel, this is a real deal novel thats pretending to be a webnovel. It has problems, it has inadequacies. But its still one of the best. Now you saw the title and dreamed this is some war hero protagonist story, then u will get disappointed for the first 30-40 chapters. And that disappointment may continue slightly in the first half of the novel. This is a medic's diary as the title suggest. If you expect some CoD things, wanna run and gun left and right, this novel isnt it, (at the beginning.) Even the MC learned it the hard way. You follow orders, you wanna stay alive, you see the hell thats created by war. Thats it.This is a story about how war is hell, it has the same taste as those like All quiet on the western front. At least at the first half of the novel. It changes in the other half. If u cant read 30 chapters without dopamine rush and have chronic main character syndrome, either skip the first half to read the later half of the novel, or dont read. Now to the inadequacies. To have this dark and gloomy atmosphere, author has a tendency to end the side characters really fast. Yes, It does give the sense of "you will die a dog's death in war and nobody will care" but its too rushed. Great characters with huge potential dies too randomly. They dont have enough backstory for us to feel the tragedy.TS/GB is really unnecessary. The main character acts like little girl. The classic selfless, naive, gentle, weak, obedient healer girl type. This would be understandable if she wasnt reincarnated. But why are you SO afraid of brats who intimidate you around but actually less than half your mental age? They are just lowest grunts rookie Privates. Even after reading the later parts of the novel her personality still doesnt make sense, fully. Her personality really doesnt match her experiences, to the point where:Spoiler
she was about to gangb*nged by enemy soldiers, she still wanna stay oobedient. She was about to get r*ped by one of her allies, she rushes to enemy trenches etc etc and she still doesnt wanna hide a knife or something to defend herself. (Btw dont worry, novel has no r*pe tag)
[collapse]Now another thing to note. Both how the army acts and how strategies works feels decent for a novel, but not realistic enough. Its too malleable in places where it shoudlnt be, and its too hard in places where it shouldnt be. Just for the sake of the plot. The force feeding of ideologies are also kinda annoys. Like how is the communist girl and that ideology is the worst evil. True or not I dont care, just dont force feed it. Its understandable it happens bec the author is Japanese but meh.The romance is there and not there honestly. Its both unasked for and sub-par. Its ambiguous maybe, so you will understand. Its satisfied those who asked for it. While it didnt displeased too much to those who didnt want it. I would have preferred no romance but anyway. The luck, coincidences and Deus ex-machina or plot armor is subtle, but it is there. Even if we attribute some to the MC's intuition and make it subtle.
