The Baddest Villainess Is Back Chapter 184 Discussion

This story is honestly a little weird. We are given tidbits of information about the world but then it takes forever for the story to explain those tidbits. It honestly feels like we are expected to know a bunch of lore about the world prior to reading it (heck I'm still not sure what "Abyss" is beyond different powers that people can have with no rhyme or reason).

The MC is Roxelyn who has died in her original world before sliding into a parallel world. Her personality is abrasive and uncaring. Some might tote her as a strong female lead but she came across as more unlikeable until she started to open up to her family in this world. However, her character is still pretty flat.

It wasn't until around chapter 180ish that she finally developed more and revealed to everyone that she wasnt the Roxe of their world. She admits that she misunderstood her family in her own world and crushes this world's version of her father with the revelation that his daughter is dead.

Aaaaaand then it goes right back to how she was acting before.

The ML is the third Prince Arma who is a kind and gentle soul. He has been engaged to the MC since they were children but is only starting to realize that he actually does like her.

It turns out that his gentle nature is actually a mask. He is cold and calculating but only has the singular goal of disappearing as he hates the Empire and his father (for good reason as his father is a douchebag who keeps the Prince's mother locked away in a private mansion while letting the world think she is dead).

He also has an Abyss of darkness and is considered a genius.

Once he comes to terms with his feelings for the MC he very quickly begins to simp for her and alternates the kind mask with full blown Yandere thoughts (just not the locking away and more the she's mine kind of yandere).

The MC's trip into this second world was not intentional as she had been looking forward to dying (I mean, her whole family was dead and she had been on the run for years so who would blame her). However, she doesn't stay pissed for very long and quickly moves on to helping prepare her family to survive before she leaves the empire and goes somewhere to rest. That second part falls through pretty quickly.

The Emperor and third prince dont want her to annul the engagement.

Her family opens up to her and she realizes they actually did love her.

She then dreams of a minstrel she met before she died the first time

Surprise! He's god. And genuinely considers her a friend.

And it turns out she has the shittiest Abyss ever. If she dies, she can go back to the past and live again by taking over someone's body (but only if they were dead).

So all the relationship building seems moot as she intends to die and go back to her original world to "take care of things".

The writing is also a bit weak and fast paced. There are some awkward scene jumps that make the story bounce around. Some chapters will end abruptly and then we go back to explain what happened after another few chapters. It leads to a little bit of a disjointed story.

Overall, I like the ML'S reaction to the MC the most which is why I put 4 stars.

I'm not sure if I feel like this is good to recommend but still a bit more to read.
