If you want a really good time, don't read the main story too much. Instead, read the Marie Route.

Main story : 6/10

Marie route : 9/10

.

Main story review: it has an interesting premise but becomes boring and bland overtime. It suffers from the usual isekai syndrome where MC is supposed to be old and has some experience in the previous life, yet acts like a 5 year old with zero impulse control.

There's no real stake, no real danger, it doesn't make you feel anything other than the usual rainbow and sunshine where the MC steamroll everything through sheer power of ultimate cheat, luck, and friendship, and everything ends happily ever after (yay). Even though by premise, the world is guaranteed to become a massive clusterf*ck, because of how chaotic the stage it is.

I got fed up and stopped reading at Volume 5, and I even wonder why it takes me such a long time to drop it.

.

Marie Route review: for me, this is the GOAT Route, and i've read it up to the latest part (Marie Route part 9) while skipping all the main story.

In this route the MC choses a more reasonable and less impulsive/aggresive stance yet it sheds more blood than the main route. The MC doesn't have infinite amount of luck here, so he stumbles badly everytime his hyper luck ran out.

Which is why this route is called the BAD ENDING route by other fellow readers. It isn't perfect by any means, but fixed so much of the main route's problem, which is:

Spoiler

1) This route has a massive stake at hand. The threat keeps stalking you from your blind spot, and does actual harm to the MC and all other characters. It gives you creeping fear and anxiety, like something crawling under your skin. The world doesn't feel 'safe' like your typical story.

2) The MC doesn't act like an impulsive edgy kid (at least most of the time), he takes a more passive and sometimes mature approach to the situation. He needs a very strong reason to fight or get serious, and don't throw his hands mindlessly, not jumping into the fire, not acting like he's strong even though all his power came from cheats.

He takes action and make deals mostly behind the scenes. The only time he was angrily impulsive was when his opponent doesn't fulfill their mutual agreement (read: dirty deal behind the scene), which is understandable, since the deal will change the plot massively onwards.

3) There are real repercussion for every wrong action/inaction that he took. He actually suffers the consequences whenever he is indecisive, careless, acts immaturely, don't take things seriously, and too relaxed.

And someone will dearly pay the price, it could be the MC or other characters, the world around them, and even characters from the sequel, which is outside the timeline of the game plot.

4) The characters don't mindlessly revolve around the MC, they have their own personal objective and ambition which they keep pursuing even behind the scene, regardless of the MC.

They don't serve as the stepping stone of the MC, instead they try to use everything including the MC as their stepping stone. In short, the characters are more fleshed out and they actually feel alive instead of being a lifeless trope/plot progression device.

5) The other countries from the sequel of the game exists and is running behind the scene, even when they're not the main focus (in the main story they only suddenly exist when their tineline starts and MC decides focus his attention on them, and only then the plot can progress).

And man, they're actually affecting the world around them so much, and ultimately the MC as well. Even when technically he's still outside the timeline of the game sequel, and the sequel hasn't started yet so it supposedly shouldn't affect him... right? (nope lol).

6) Some things that are unexplained in the main story, gets properly explained very in-depth in Marie Route. I won't say much, but you can see the other side of the characters that they haven't shown in the main story here in Marie Route.

[collapse]

Marie Route can be summarized with: "This is what happens when the world doesn't revolve around the Main Character"

.

Final verdict: read the first few volumes of the main story if you're interested, since they explain a lot of the worldbuilding.

And when it starts to get boring, read the Marie Route because it's a guaranteed banger (i couldn't sleep when I haven't finished reading Marie Route everytime it's released lol).
