The World of Otome Games is Tough For Mobs Chapter v3 epilogue Discussion

I am really annoyed at the end of the third volume. The first arc has concluded and it has left me fuming at the author. The idea of the novel is quite simple, the entire world shits on the MC but when trouble arises, he is forced to take charge and become the hero. This pattern is repeated throughout the volume and the way the world treats him gets worse by the chapter and builds up to a payoff where the MC saves the day and he puts everyone in their place. Except that the payoff is extremely underwhelming and insignificant.

Spoiler

The people who have hurt him and his love interests are dealt with as an afterthought. There are instances where he is ab*sed by the students in his school and absolutely nothing comes out of it. Everything is forgotten and never mentioned again.

At the end of the third volume, the MC comes to know that someone has caused his lovers to be humiliated in front of their peers and he absolutely looses his mind and actually goes for the kill. Whoa, where did this come from? It looks like things are getting interesting. Nope, it's played of as a joke and we are deprived of the payoff.

It looks like the author has attempted to go for a comedic angle where we are supposed to laugh at the situations that the MC is put under. I don't know if something has been lost in translation, but it just doesn't work. Everything comes of as annoying and sad rather than funny. The 5 clowns are still a big part of the story and are used for overused gags time after time. And they will be a part of the story in the future.

I am left frustrated that the MC has not learnt his lesson and grown through the trials he has faced. After everything, he still remains the same. It works for characters like one punch man cause, but not for this MC (I forgot his name. Just checked, it's Leon). He has to face real trials and ab*se where he handicaps himself and then learns nothing from it. His motivations and goals are completely different from the actions that he takes. The author tries to make it so that Leon is forced to act against his goals but it is not done in a convincing manner.

Overall, I won't recommend this novel. It is interesting at the start, which might tempt you into reading further, but it's not worth it.

edit- I thought of giving it 2 stars, but am unable to change it. I guess the start was good, which should be worth something.
