Novel can be noted as being extremly dark with intense gore, immense plot holes and little vigor to it. The main characters progress is extremely slow and is looked down on by everyone who dosen't know his real strength, basically the whole population of the kingdom. Meanwhile the sage is idolized by everyone and is ignorant of the fact that he's batsh*t evil and will do whatever it takes to be glorified. The reason MC dosen't outright kill him despite knowing he's evil is because he intends to use and manipulate the sage to his full abilities to save the heroine/hero from her certain death. Spoiler
After oni arc things may change for him as he's been awarded a knight status despite everyone who didn't witness his strength claiming he was only given the status to save the school the embarassment of enrolling a villager
