She is a Great Demon Hunter Chapter 50 Discussion

My first impression of the first few chapters? Love the MC. She's blunt, and has a good head on her shoulders. Somewhat surprisingly open minded for someone waking up 500 years in the future, but that can be attributed to the fact that she was a warrior and not some sheltered miss. Though admittedly some of her charm is from being a fish out of water. Essentially her being the straight man with her matter of fact delivery.

I had to appreciate her first interaction with the butler. In so many of these possession based novels the protag is either super cautious or overtly daring because of whatever golden finger they have. But the MC here just drops the mic as she admits openly that she went out to score drugs due to her withdrawl, and consequently fell down into the sink hole. It was refreshing to see a character not calculate their response to the first person they meet, and just straight up admit their fault. Even if this wasn't a possession, it takes some amount of courage and confidence to admit such a weakness/mistake.

I also liked that she had a reasonable take on the OGMC's weight. That in her time it was a show of wealth and not something to be embarrassed about. But then later decides to follow the OGMC's desire to lose weight for practical reasons - detox, climbing walls, trolling demons, etc. Typical stuff. I think a lot of people are trigger happy on the fat shamming claim when it comes to fat-to-fit stories. So far this MC has the right attitude, imo.

Up to ch. 50 I kinda felt like the story got worse. The MC is all about making money which is fine, but it was with the idea that she'd go independent from her family. She gave up being a registered demon hunter because it would mean limiting her money making, and now she's obediently going back to college because that's what her butler (and family?) demand? In short her plans are nebulous at best and seems to just be going with the flow at the moment. Her weight loss plans came in the form of some wish fulfilling talisman that just improved her normal gains from diet/exercise and it all happened offscreen (and a time skip). I was hoping that a demon hunter would know how to train but she just lets others dictate her weight loss plan (while becoming food obsessed). Maybe all this would make sense for the OGMC, but it feels strange that the MC is this way.

I'm hoping they either make some progress with her family soon or maybe some progression with the ML? The later especially doesn't feel promising at the moment. The MC managed to correct her mistake of almost killing 1 of 2 of the wishing tree's left in the world (the one the ML was taking care of), but he's constantly annoyed with her fixation on money. Honestly it's feeling like a real slow burner.
