HAHAHAHA. Maybe I'm truly gullible, a total fool, but, I actually felt Yota's love for Ai here. I think he was just lying to himself when he said he didn't love her, after all.

The pessimist in me is saying, "He only 'loves' Ai because she's going to disappear. It's just desperation, nothing more."
