but nothing actually comes of it. I hope Takashi will get more of a role in the story soon. This seemed like it was finally going to be his chance, but nope. If only he pushed Ai a little more...
I'm very sad for Ai, but her predicament has had me wanting to say for a few chapters that I love the contrast between her and Moemi, which has been especially evident as of late:
Ai has been suffering, shivering in the cold rain in a tent in some dirty slum, all alone, with no one to hold on to. While Moemi was able to take a bath with Yota in his warm house and wear a cozy sweater while sleeping in his bed. Feeling his warmth... quite literally, feeling it...
Ai is completely selfless, willing to put herself into this terrible state, all because of her love for Yota. Her totally (almost pathological) selfless love, to where she is fine sacrificing herself so that Yota can be happy with Moemi...
Meanwhile, Moemi has been showing her nastiness, her selfishness and jealousy. And I don't blame her for feeling jealous, but boy is it ugly! Next to Ai, it's night and day. Ai is so beautiful in spirit, while Moemi is bitter and resentful. Some may prefer the ugliness of Moemi, but I really do like Ai's pure love and willingness to sacrifice herself for Yota's happiness more.
Man oh man, I sure hope the ending for Ai is nice, but... I'm afraid it will be sad, just judging from how the story is going for her.
(The worst ending we can possibly get would be Yota having one little moment with Ai, before she then fades away, and then Yota just moves on in life with Moemi. I'm very afraid that this will be how it ends! It's just my pessimistic prediction. PLEASE let it be wrong! Volume 13 is called
"Fade Out", which has me fearing over the ending even more. Please let it not be a crappy ending...)
My hope is that we have all this suffering so that the happiness will pay off in the end. If Ai gets with Yota, it will be a great feeling, after all she's been through.
Btw, with all that I said about Moemi, I actually like her "ugliness". It feels real and I can understand where she's coming from. But Ai is too wonderful and I root for Ai. Sorry Moemi!
