A mute FL and a handicapped ML, brought together by fate (actually by evil step-mom's conspiracy, but ya know, dramatic intro *drum rolls*)

FL is mute by accident (to know what accident, read the novel)

ML is handicapped by accident (to know who caused the accident, read till the end)

Cutie Lin Xingxue and Charming Shen Hangxin together are fluffy lovey-dovey.

The characters are very simple 2D, nothing too complex, however full of potential (which didn't get realized much)

The focus mostly remains on Xingran and Hangxin, their gradual growth of affection towards each other. Xingxue's love stemmed from life-saving grace of Hangxin, and Hangxin's love grew from how easy FL is to be bullied.

Spoiler

When FL was 9, she got attacked by assassins (to know who sent the assassins, read the novel), and ML came riding on a white horse (jk) and saved the FL. However, FL thought Gu Yan saved her, because he claimed it was him. Now why did he do that? I wonder. Anyway, FL had snatched away ML's jade tablet hanging from his waist when they were riding horse back to her home, and kept it safe since then.

Gu Yan is the most useless character in this whole novel, the reason behind his existence is still a mystery to me (to know why, read the novel). The author surprisingly gave him lots of screen- time (I mean, word-count). He's weirdly indecisive. He says he loves Lin Xingxue, then again feels soft-hearted toward Lin Xingran because he thinks she saved his life during some stormy night in a temple (to know the actual story, don't bother looking in the novel nothing is explained). Spoiler

And as you might have guessed, it was not Lin Xingran but Lin Xingxue who saved him, and Gu Yan gets to know it after he has married Xinran and tons of thing happened.

[collapse]

ML Shen Hangxin is not only handicapped but also has poison and Gu (not Gu Yan, but insect Gu) in his body. And the chance of his recovery is basically close to nil, but a miracle happens (to know what miracle, read the novel).

The whole novel is quite enjoyable, and though there are a few cliche storyline, it's not monotonous. All the conspiracies separately seem rather predictable, but together they're intriguing and the story flows smoothly. The novel could have been explored in a more detailed manner, with all the sub-plots that had been introduced but not delved deeper into.

Overall, it's a good read.
