4 Stars the author communicates what they want to say very well. This one is going to either be very enjoyable story for you or a really enjoyable. The theme is the old Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court. You have the MC who comes from the empire that's controlling their vassal states access to technology, but she has memorized the libraries of the empire and is primed to bring technology to the flatheads.Sounds like fun? Well ask yourself this, do you want to be the king of people that can't figure out maps, how to organize their bureaucracy or that they can import paper for record keeping. Heaven or Hell? You pick. Then there is the fact that it's not well thought through. The tech empire doesn't even consider the fact that they sending a trove of technology to their vassals. (They won't even let a book cross the border). There's no thought given to just how difficult it is to build an empire based on control of knowledge of technology. Think of how the U.S. Managed only to keep the bomb out of Russia's hands for less than 4 years.Having a central point of the story so weakly handled just ruins the experience.Bottom Line: If you want this kind of experience, you might want to look at "Lord Kalvan Of Otherwhen by H. Beam Piper"
