Very questionable mindset of the author?The MC literally had a whole arc about being forced to leave for the far far south where the environment was so toxic the water was poisonous and the people were so primitive and barbaric, which was irky but understandable given the context. Until the story progressed and she colonized the place and she gave it the name Annam which is surprisingly!!! The last time that name was used was when French colonizers invaded Vietnam.I do not understand the obsession with colonizing the South™️ that too many Chinese webnovel authors (or just. EAsian authors in general) have. Especially since the first part of the story, the author used the settings in which the MC had to pass as a man to navigate the bureaucratic system, thereby highlighting the lack of human's rights for the women of the time. Also not to mention that these type of authors love to paint the general South as just deserted jungles where backward, bloodthirsty cavemen lived so they can justify the colonization as "civilization". This, coupled with the almost avid advocacy for human's rights in this story, has partially breached a seal in a particular can of worms that I hope to forget about asap.
