As another review mentions, this has to be one of the best BL stories in terms of world-building and action. The concept of such an alien world, where everything is so incredibly deadly and the deadlier the more beautiful...Sadly I dropped the story around chapter 76, when for some reason the translator stopped updating the story regularly. There is almost a one year difference between chapter 76 and 77 I think, and since then the TL has barely been uploading one chapter per month, sometimes even skipping months. Hence why this story is still ongoing in 2024. I started reading this in 2020! And I just realized that the TL begun this story in 2018, 6 years ago! The novel isn't even that long at 100+ chapters. Exiled Rebels Scanlations took 5 years to translate "The Legendary Master's Wife", a 700+ chapter behemoth! You can argue that that was probably a team effort, but still. I think on average, TLs take about 1-2 years max. to translate a novel like this.I don't want to discourage the translator or seem mean, it's very kind of them to make available to people who don't speak the original language this story at the cost of their own time and effort. And I understand that translators have their own lives and can't prioritize what is often times a hobby. But there should be a limit to how long a translator can take with a story. One chapter a month is cruel to the readers. They'll either feel so discouraged with the slow pace of things that they'll loose interest and drop the story, or they'll find their own way of doing things and read the MTL version of the story or something similar. Making this a pointless effort. Not to mention that you're lowering the enjoyment of the story by making things drag on in the perception of the readers, lowering the quality of a good novel, when things are actually happening faster than you make it seem.At the end of the day I feel like it's not worth it, if you're just going to upload a handful of chapters a year. If the translator is so time constrained I think the kinder thing to do for everyone would be to pass the project to somebody else. (Not to mention, I find it hard to believe that the TL could actually still be enjoying a project they've been wrestling with for six years). It's also unfair to the story! I feel like t's not getting the attention it deserves because of the slow updates. Many people probably see the "ongoing" and 2018-2023 timestamp and drop the story before even starting it.To make matters worse, the story is almost done! There are just a handful of chapters left! But instead of picking up the pace, seeing the finish line in sight, the translator hasn't made a single update in 2024! You can't do that at the end of a story, it's the most important part!TLDR/In conclusion: the translator is taking an absurd amount of time with this story and it's unfair to the story itself and the readers. Everyone is losing in this situation.
