It's an excellent foodie novel. The plot also picks up towards the latter half of it, but it's still relatively chill overall; if you don't like reading about food, probably not for you. The food descriptions are great.It's been a while since I've read it, and the ML shows up quite a lot later on, but not much at the beginning. Slow burn, yes?Anyway, 5* for food, I remember the plot being decent but it's been a while since I've read it. The food is more than decent, for sure. Finished via MTL. Saw some other reviewers commenting on MC getting called "the girl". Took a peek at the raws.Ch25, tl: "Don't worry, girl, we'll go right away."Raws: 姑娘放心，我们这就去。"Guniang" is the term used, and it can be translated in a number of ways, so "girl" isn't technically wrong. That being said, TL'ing it as "miss" or "young lady" would probably be more suitable, given the context.I do think this is possibly edited MTL, but the quality is readable and the TLer has endeavoured to put in food tutorials and pics.Spoiler

Also b/c the TL misidentified salted duck eggs as century eggs. Harmless mistake, but I'm leaning towards edited MTL.
Century eggs are not very salty, are fairly mellow, and you definitely do want to salt your century egg porridge.
