This novel is a feel good novel with lots of fluff and basically no real drama (at least emotionally). There are a few action scenes that make for a nice change of pace, but they are scattered in between a whole bunch of fluff and wife doting.

The ML who has a reputation of being violent is anything but when facing the MC. In fact, he is doting and protective from the very get go.

The MC in turn likes acting spoiled with the ML and is even more clingy than the ML. This side of him only appears when dealing with the ML. Otherwise he is usually antisocial and distant, almost cold even, to anyone else other than the ML. This leads to a slight feeling of dissonance. It feels like MC has a split personality with how extreme his behavior varies. And I am also confused about what makes the ML so special for the MC to be so attached to him from the very beginning. It just doesn't fit the MC's antisocial, slightly paranoid, cold leader of a rebel organization setting.

For the most part, I enjoyed reading the novel, although I did regret not having the MC appear or in his small mermaid form in the later half of the novel. After defeating the antagonists I kinda lost interest as nothing really important happened and I had to force myself to finish the last few chapters since I don't like dropping a novel so close to the end. This is, however, just a problem of my personal preference. I get bored easily so others might not run into the same issue.
