I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship, so I Became a Space Mercenary Chapter 166 Discussion

The story is about a Japanese salaryman who woke up one day in a spaceship he owned while playing

an online game called Stella Online. Then he realized he's not dreaming and in fact he got transported

into a world very similar to Stella Online game. Then begins his adventure into this SF world.

The setting for this is filled with SF tropes we've grown to love if you're an SF fan. But be warned that this

is not hard SF so if you're expecting explanation of how the technology works you won't be getting much as the author warned that this is a space fantasy.

Chapters 1 to 30 explores the Turmen colony (excuse the translation I read this raw), here he meets his operator Mimi and Co-pilot Erma and also the commander of the Imperial Army Selena. This chapter explores how he could cope up loving in this unknown world as he first registers as a mercenary and earn a living. You'll get plenty of action as he battles against space pirates. Here it is established that his goal is to earn enough money to buy a detached house somewhere on a planet (apparently, living on a planet costs a fortune so people live on colony). The space war between the military and the space pirates is very exciting as we see our hero just destroy the space pirate's ship with ease.

In Chapters 31 to 59 explores the Alein colony. Here he saved a female physician which would give him some medical checkup and some vaccination for sickness. I felt this chapter is rather slow since all they do is go shopping for clothes and go on tour to the biomeat factory and eat some fancy food. But you'll get plenty of action near the end as he battles yet another group of space pirates. Then after that battle with the space pirates when they were about to dock back into the colony, the colony is attacked by biological weapons. So our hero dons his power armor like the one in Fallout franchise and battles the bioweapons. You get plenty of funny exchange of dialogues between our hero and Commander Selena in this chapter.

In Chapter 60 to 108 explores the Sherra star system. This time, our hero found a space capsule with a girl inside in a cold sleep state. After waking up the girl, they found out that the girl is a noble heir whose uncle is out to kill her to claim her father's position as a Earl (don't ask why they used old English noble rankings). This chapter is also quite interesting as we learned more of the roles of nobles in this world and also we get a glimpse of the history of artificial intelligence and how they came to be in this world. And the hero also got himself an android maid named May to assist him also. You'll get plenty of action as the hero battles a persistent noble and his military. And also we get to see a sword fight between the bad guy and the hero's power armor (Yes, nobles in this world fights with a sword. They can deflect lasers with the sword and easily cut a power armor in half just like a Jedi).

In Chapter 109 to 140 explores the Brad star system. This chapter is when the hero buys himself a mothership to help him in his mercenary business (He has earned enough money in the last chapter to buy a mothership to assist him in fighting space pirates). He also meets his engineers Tina and Whisker, both are twins and also dwarves (yesh, those dwarves that likes to forge swords in fantasy settings are engineers in this world). This chapter is quite slow start as they explore the Brad star system and go out on a food trip and do some shopping. But you'll get some action later on as they test out his newly acquired mothership called Black Lotus piloted by his trusty maid android May.

The next chapter is about Izrooks star system, here you'll see an intergalactic war between the Imperial army and some Crystal aliens. I've only read until chapter 166 but you'll get plenty of enjoyment and a little starship troopers vibe in this chapter.

This is a fun read, the hero is not a wussy and knows how to speak his mind and lots of girls fell for him. I am hoping for more space adventures in the future.
