First of is him selling his DNA specimen for research, because his genetic make-up is almost wholly different from other humans and humanoids known to the space empire yet most of his organs are the same as humans and fulfill the same functions. He can reproduce with the humans of that dimension despite being a different species altogether (Convergent evolution, where two different species evolve to be strikingly similar). This was also told to him during the deal making. And you know how much he sold it for? ~3 mil dollars. Oh and what else, a checkup for three people plus vaccinations for one at a really expensive hospital there cost 90 mil dollars, so let's consider the inflation alright. The most expensive medical costs of vaccinations + checkups I can estimate is 9, 000, so he basically sold a scientific breakthrough specimen for 300, 000 dollars. Hmmmmm. Okay, let's just go with it that he's a normal guy who was never read up on some basic stuffs in science research despite being a sci-fi fan.
BUT BUT, later on, he had a high spec android helping him in his next two deals. He signed an exclusive contract with a spaceship making company for only a 6 mil discount. Money he can easily make if he just hold of on buying that expensive ship for a month or two at most. So what does the deal include? He priorities using buying from the company and getting maintenance there, ok, sort of worth it here, considering it as a "regular discount." What else? Giving them operational data from those ships he use. Ok, user data, fine as well.
BUT then, he agrees to be exclusive advertisers for them and be used in documentaries and other entertainment media they made. He's basically a celeb people want to watch, and only 6 mil (inflation not considered) ???... ok.............
Now next, he let these manufacturers analyzed his one of a kind starship that is the best of the best and contain vast amount of unknown technologies for 5 mil. 5 mil, bruh. When you sell how to make a sth to a maker, it always cost more than the price of just selling the item itself to a user, especially when you're the only one who can sell it. This is just common sense, even if Hiro doesn't know, the android that helped him in this deal should have known. The only explanation to this is that the author doesn't know about it and doesn't care to bother with basic google searches to find referencess for these research deals stuffs, and only bother to research what he's interested in, space tech/science explanation stuffs.
