I love both of the leads. The story is cute, and the leads are cute. It should be a good book. And yet....Well, let's start with the leads, shall we?First, let's describe the ML. From what I read so far, the ML is super dense, but also quite bright and unrestrained when it comes to expressing his feelings. He's also quite handsome. As someone said in the comment section of the fan-TL site, he looks like the protagonist's best friend in the "introverted boy x popular girl" romcom novels. Weirdly enough, he's not popular, as if invisible to other girls. He's like a neutron star in that matter: bright, dense, hot, but invisible to the naked eyes if you don't get close enough to see him. Not sure if that's actually scientifically right, but ML is really just like that. Now, about the FL. While tsundere, she is NOT exaggerated. She's quite shy and dishonest. She blushed alot and tended to mask that shyness with tough front. A typical tsundere. However, she never hurl insults or physically ab*sed ML like other tsundere characters. She's, instead, very lovely and adorable. I'm firm in my opinion that she should be a paragon to every tsundere in existence!Aside from her adorable personality, she's also quite beautiful. She looks neat and cool, like a kuudere, while also not looking like a boorish honour student, thankfully. Tho, what I'm really thankful for is that for once, we have a FL who's actually beautiful but not labelled as "the most beautiful in the school." It's quite distasteful to label girls as such in the first place. Which is why I desperately want to love this novel. But not all is good, though! Shall we talk about the way author writes the story?I'm not a writer or anything, so I don't think it's appropriate of me to criticise his techniques. But I do have an opinion about it, based on how I felt when I read the novel. To put it simply, it's boring. To expand on it, the way author writes the story does not fit the theme more often than not. And I'm not talking about the prose! I'm talking about the execution in general. Like, the flow is too jumpy, especially at the start. Aside from that, the feeling I felt when reading the novel is: it feels like eating a brownies that's not rising to the max. It's sweet, but not fluffy. It feels half-hearted, or half-baked.I can see myself pushing through to the end in the future. But right now, I don't think I have the will to continue. Let's just say, I might eat the brownies when I got nothing else to eat while I am starving. That's all I can say. It's a shame. It really is! I love simple fluffy and sweet romance. I hope the next volume gets better, because I desperately want to love this novel, too! But, as of now, it's 3/5. Sweet, but too giung to read in one sitting. And that's coming from a guy who enjoys a novel that's all about kissing! That should mean something. (Uh, in my language, giung is that taste when the food is nauseating to eat because it's uncomfortably sweet or umami. You might know the taste if you don't like sweet food.)
