This is a story about an over powered protagonist, that somehow still does tension and threat right, the cast of supporting characters, are the key in this dynamic, so no side character feels like a waste of attention. Our protagonist feels vivid outside of the tiny romantic tidbits that feel like they could be used more elegantly in an even more efficient way in the story. Outside of that this is a story with almost no fat, I would say, 99% lean beef here, nothing is really wasted in this work. The romantic elements while not perfect still help boost the mood and add a charming lightness when elements feel a little gloomy. This story is excellent in many regards. I would say we'll see this hit mainstream in U.S. Audiences soon if they handle it responsibly I see it as likely to become a great commercial success if my taste is at all representative of what is quality. The only thing that would bring this down, is market fatigue for the general premise. This was a real page burner for me personally, I finished it all in a day up to ch 132. I regard that as a high complement due to my familiarity with the genre, and my history as a reader. Its not often I choose to lose sleep to read these days, in my thirties. The tightness of the story and the efficiency of the design of the novel reminded me pleasantly of Jim Butcher's work.
