Villainess Is Changing Her Role to a Brocon Chapter 98 Discussion

A very entertaining take on the otoge villainess reincarnation genre.

Unlike many other similar reincarnation stories where the siscon / brocon tendencies of other characters develop from the protagonist doting on them, the MC's big brother was a siscon to begin with, even when the character was a villainess, and an honest one at that.

Comparatively, the protagonist is instead holding herself back and mentally apologising for being a thirty year-old inside. But even if I say that she holds herself back, she's still quite open about her affection in general, just not to the extent of revealing her obsession outright.

A positive aspect is that the MC isn't dense, although she doesn't pay much attention to the feelings anyone other than her brother might hold for her. Not that I mind dense protagonists in general, but many are written lazily and turn out s*upid instead.

And in between the chapters of flirting siblings, there is the matter of being involved in the ingame events as well as a reasonable amount of more serious economic and political concerns that weren't conveyed in the setting of the game. This gives the world some additional depth and makes it more believable.

Other than the POV changes that I consider mostly unnecessary, it's written fairly well. One thing that is jarring is that the short chapters sometimes break in the middle of a conversation, but actual changes in place and even time can be in the middle of a chapter. I haven't read the raws, but I'd guess that it was done that way to keep people reading, however I honestly think that making more proper chapters would make the story much easier to read.

In addition to the short chapters, the story is moving fairly slowly as it is often the case with these types of novels. Some people may be relieved that she remembers her past at the age of fifteen, so there isn't any unnecessarily lengthy infancy or childhood period. However, since the story is focused on the romance and not magic and combat, there hasn't been a ton of plot up to this point. I would be surprised if the story ended in less than 500 chapters, unless the chapter length changes or the author simply runs out of ideas.
