The bulk of my original review was about the translation quality. Since then the translator has gone back and made some changes which help substantially. There are still some issues, but it's markedly improved. For one, they added speaker markings to the dialogue, which makes it far easier to follow what is happening.

The more troublesome issue is the perspective. The author apparently switches wildly between first and third person. It can even shift for just a single sentence. The translators seem to want to be as true as possible to the original, so they're in a bit of a pickle. Now they are attempting to add some markings in to make the switches less disconcerting. They aren't perfect (yet, hopefully) but they do help reduce the feeling of mental whiplash you get from reading rapid-fire changes from first- to third- back to first-person perspective.

Anyway, it's pretty reasonable, or even kinda good for a JP novel. For some reason they always seem to have a little more difficulty in the translation department. The translators seem pretty interested in improving things and are open to suggestions, so hopefully this only gets better from here.

The story itself is... fine. It seems to be a fairly solid 3/5 on it's own. I don't have a lot to say about it honestly. It's just very okay so far. Now that things are easier to understand, and things seem to be picking up a bit, I might have more of an opinion in the future. But so far, it's ya know... fine.
