A very sweet, wholesome, comedic slice-of-life!Love the writing style, which was casual and funny without taking itself too seriously.None of the super dumb villagers / cannon fodder or backstabbing and gossiping here. Despite the lack of that kind of drama, there was no shortage of fun things that happened, whether tricking a local tyrant's marriage or taking down a whole mountain of bandits. The characters were written very vividly, like real neighbors you'd find next door. The supporting cast was really great, the bamboo-crafter, the grey monk, and other characters. And in between the smatterings of fluffSpoiler
are real lessons the author understood, such as how inequality in the ancient times were perpetuated by a terrible class system, and how immense poverty was the result of that system.
[collapse]Translation could be better, MTL not very edited, but the story overall isn't difficult to understand.
