Why Not Make Both Twins ‘Girlfriends’? Chapter v24 part5 Discussion

  • #1
Putting aside the general premise of entering a relationship with two people without significant jealousy, the story is actually quite sweet if you don't take it too seriously.

Both romances to the twins develop somewhat naturally and according to their individual personalities and interactions with the MC, and aren't just carbon copies, while still retaining sufficient similarities in things like taste and mannerisms to be convincing twins.

Despite the superficial wish-fulfilling notion of dating two beautiful girls instead of just one, there is some depth to their characters, and while they have strengths, they also have some significant psychological weaknesses that make sense along their behaviour and backstories.

The dialogues are well-written and entertaining. The number and depth of characters other than the main three is somewhat limited, but so far those have provided sufficient content.

If I had to say one thing that bothered me, it's the whole non-confrontational paradigm that applies to almost any interaction. The MC isn't a doormat for the heroines like in some other novels, but they're instead collectively doormats for everyone else.

Spoiler

In the second arc, the MC is basically mol*sted by a girl and someone tries to take pictures of it to publicise the reverse narrative as a scandal, and the action they decide on taking is... saving the newspaper club from being disbanded so that they're not made to take responsibility for its disbandment even though it was clear that the club is indeed obsolete.

It's starting to feel like oregairu except they're not actually in a volunteer club.
