The Darkness Was Comfortable for Me Chapter 177 Discussion

Worldbuilding is done really well, with a rather unique magic system. I especially enjoyed the forum chapters, as they are written in a way that makes you feel like you are one of those commentators, with comments that reflect what your actual thoughts are. Thoughts that go through my head when reading the MC pov chapters are reflected in the forums. Very realistic in that regard.

MC is off putting at first, as he goes through a phase of grieving and emo-ing. He 'hides in the darkness' and as a reader you can get quite frustrated at the MC's personality. But after some time, I understood this is not an OP!MC novel in a traditional sense. The MC is not emotionlessly chasing strength like in most modern KR novels, nor is he a h**ny otaku chasing skirts. He is written as a very real person, Spoiler

with the exception of his unrealistically genius sisters

[collapse], and you find yourself rooting for him emotionally. Not rooting for him to become stronger and kill everyone, but for him to recover emotionally from the tragedy in his life.

Latest chapters that follows MC's childhood friend and sister's POV is really bland, and only slightly interesting, but the strength of the first 150 chapters is an easy four stars for me.

My advice would be to not go into this story with the expectation of a tropey isekai MC. Expect yourself to be disappointed with the MC's decisions, frustrated at his indecision, and then impressed with how the MC can subvert your expectations.
